Ah, no need for that if my emails are not answered when I write in German either! Now I find out that, according to my friend who ordered it, that there were some Sportmodell 33s made with 8 x 1.25 thread. But it wasn't on the list of the spare parts. My part just came listed as 1 X Manschettenschraube-Stossroerchen Haenel 33/ 33 (Metrisches Gewinde )
As my gun doesnt take a Zoll pattern schrew but will happily take a 8 x 1mm screw, you can see I was disappointed to get a part which wont fit!

Well, crap - I finally got my friend to get me this part - and when it comes it won't fit my Sportmodell 33. It has the same thread as the broken one out of my Haenel 49a. I think it must be one for a 310. Since they dont answer emails, I don't know what to do. My friend who ordered it has written them and no reply for over a week.

I think my friend has managed to get one ordered for me! But if any of you really need help getting something from here - please let me know. I live deep in the land of Daisy and Crosman - even saw some new Benjamins the other day - but Haenels are scarce here. Canelles, I could still help you with your sight...if you really need help.

Well, I had my German friend tried to call them - she told me that they dont take call-in orders, and said that if you make an "internet order" it may take a while. So I dont know if my order from some months ago is still valid. I tried to use the online-order form but it wouldnt work for me. Well, maybe she can work something out... She found this on the website... "Telefonische Bestellungen sind zur Zeit nicht möglich!
Bestellungen per E-Mail oder Fax werden erst nach den Bestellungen im Onlineshop bearbeitet, daher wesentlich längere Bearbeitungszeit!
Um eine schnelle Bearbeitung Ihrer Bestellung zu gewährleisten, bitten wir Sie in unserem Onlineshop zu bestellen."

    Alex,

Are you having trouble trying to get a Skinner sight? Do they not offer international shipping?I could help you out, if need be. I may try to get my friend to call Gotha anyhow... I am not sure if it were Gotha or Schneider I ordered some parts for a Haenel Sportmodell 49 from. They never came for three months and I was not sure they got sent at all. The company claimed they sent them, after I asked. Turns out some postal gorillas had sent it to the Union of South Africa....that is what they thought the USA meant on my address. Sometimes these thing become small adventures...

    Hello all,

I am repairing an old Haenel Sportmodell 33 -and I need a Manschettenschraube/Stossroerhchen for it. I had a friend in Germany try to order it for me, without any reply from them. See below -

Vielen Dank! Mit freundlichen Grüßen Anja

My friend Anja has still not gotten a reply after so many months.

Since then I have tried using their online form to order - which will not work for me. I have written them via the "Contact" link, in both English and the best German I can do - and I get no results. They must be in business yet, because when I started this, the metric thread part was 14.95, now both metric and zoll parts are 29 euro.

Can anyone here be of help? I can't call them because I don't have international phone service.

Thanks for any advice! Or help, for that matter!

Well, here a photo of my crusty old rifle. I have already begun to polish the bolt. I have repaired the fiit of the bolt to the cocking arm - there was only half a pin in that hole. You can't see the Ladesperre I made in this photo, only the original one. Happy that it functions with so little work!

I am tempted to cut a handguard out of an old 310 stock - but perhaps I can find an old Israeli Kar98 handguard, or even an old dough rolling pin to cut one out of. Beechwood isn't too common here in the states.

Would still appreciate a good closeup of a barrel band or rear sight...

    Thanks

    Dave

Blast - my photo is too big, and I am not sharp enough to cut it down...perhaps later..

Some progress....I have made a Ladesperre, as mine was missing one. I can't find an exploded view of the 33 Junior, and so I was not sure what sort of trigger spring it should have. A mangled bit of spring fell out when I unstocked it, it looked like it might have pressed on the end of the Abzugstange. After much profanity I got the spring straight enough and sure enough, the old thing cocks and will shoot out a ball! So much more lucky than on my 49a, where I had to drill the Stossrohrchen out! Now I just need a good view of the bottom of the rear barrel band...

Hmmmnn....."Breakfastenglish" makes me crave German breakfast food. Mettwurst, Teewurst, Schinkenwurst, Brotchen - all just as hard to find here as Haenel spare parts.

    Hello folks,

I just managed to find an old Haenel 33 junior, which is in need of some bits - mainly the handguard, the barrel bands, the sights, and the cleaning rod. I plan on making these parts, except for the rear sight . Perhaps someone could give me the measurements of the front sight base...the spot of solder where it was isn't intact enough to guess the size. Before I got the gun in my hands I thought I could cut down a Gew98 kornsattel...now I am not so sure. Also I'd like a photograph showing the underside of the lower barrel band. None of the photos on this website show clearly how the ends are shaped and jointed together. Could someone be so kind as to measure the thickness of the stahlblech used to make both the front and the rear barrel band? I don't really need any other measurements, as I can see from the stock how wide it was.

I thought the rear sight would be easy, until I looked close at it. It will have to be a job for both the milling machine and the file. I have searched all over for somebody who makes a similar screw sight without success. I also tried to find a similar sight from some other air rifle, without much luck.. I gather from the last post that they are not to be easily had. If someone does make measurements, I would be glad to see them.

Thanks for any help, with my Haenel far from home!

And last for today...I decided to start inletting the plate to the stock. I made the meeting surfaces symmetrical and true. I will save the outer shaping for whan I shape the stock. These last two days have been brutal, it being about 38 or 40 degrees and very humid. I had sweat dripping off both elbows like a leaking faucet. So what? Well - such sweat will make ugly black splotches on this wood - on Maple too. When sweat rolls down your ams into your hands its almost impossible to keep it off your work.! The darkening is partly dirt and part chemical blackening from sweat. It almost matches the forend now...
I think I'll shellack it to keep sweat off it better tomorrow. Hopefully I can get the buttplate all the way on tomorrow.

I couldn't find a buttplate anywhere for it. Our American "schutzen" rifles have something similar but different. I did find a German stockmaker who had some better (but not perfect) buttplates - but at something like 80 euros that was more than I gave for my rifle. Luckily I am a blacksmith. I decided to make one. I wish I could say it came out perfect on the first try but I would be a liar....
Here is the beginning of the fourth attempt. Its made from some heavy iron gas/water pipe, about 3.5 cm diameter.

Or, a "stranger in a strange land" Do forgive me if I have this in the wrong section. Forgive, also, my English - today my German would be good only for comedy, and not even good comedy.
Last year I found part of a Zimmerstutzen in an antique shop. Missing a front sight, and the buttstock. Seemed functional still. I was impressed by the quality of the work on the set triggers. I haggled the price down to where I was satisfied and took my prize home.
I couldn't find a piece of wood thick enough to make the stock from; so I glued a separate ckeek piece on. Also, our walnut is too dark to match whatever the foerend was made from. I have ended up using Black Cherry, which will match the other wood quite well.
I based the outline on the angles of the tangs, as well as photos I found on the Internet.
I stopped working on it sometime in February...

Thanks, Fax and Ronny - yes, all which wasn't made at Haenel I made myself.. Stock, barrel bands, handguard retaining lip, buttplate. I retained the trigger guard but had to bend it a little. Also I made a screw fastening for the bolt and didn't use the pin and cup from the 310.
Its hard to make the 310 look like a Sportmodell 33...but I see now my 49a looks closer ...and I have much better photos now than I did then...hmmnn...
