  • All LEP guns that use micro brocock cartridges that are converted semi-automatics do no cycle by themselves, but instead one has to pull the slide back for every shot. People say that is because the cartridge holds very little air.

    Look here:

These cartridges, as small as they are, are able to cycle a modified real semi-automatic pistol:

And here is the energy output of these cartridges:

These systems are not for sale to civilians, but for goverment and contractors only. However, they are direct dessendants of the Valtro airmunition that once was available for everyone.

I think those 9mm air cartridges are not all that different from a Micro Brocock cartridge. So why can't we make them cycle? I would buy one inmediatly if it could.

  • Hi Tomahawk,

at the site behind your first link, they have two types of air cartridges. The RecoilOnly and the .38/375 Revolver Cartridge. With the Revolver cartridge you can lauch this marking/rubber pellets. The RecoilOnly cartridge is not able to shoot a pellet, and the barrel is completely closed, so that the complete energy of this cartridge could be used for the recoil.

If you want a recoiling LEP Pistol, you need the biggest part of the air to accelerate the pellet, so you have not enough energy for recoiling.

In a review of a Walther P1/P38 (working with Brocock Pistol Cartridges) is written, that the energy is about 0,5 Joule, so it is less than an Airsoft gun. In this case, if you "split" the energy (1part for shooting and 1 part for recoil) maybe the pellet even won´t leave the barrel.

    DeeK

  • Sorry, i´ve only seen the RecoilOnly cartridge.

In this case it is very intresting. Do you know, how high ist the energy of the plastic pellets from the 9mm cartridge?

  • A popular model that fires those 9mm air cartridges is the the Glock 17T Training pistol, available only to law enforcement:

If I am not mistaken, one also can take a gun and install the airmunition system, (which includes blue slide for safety, but it can be reversed for live ammunition as well)

According to this site, the Glock 17T does around 2ft/lb (2.7 Joules)

There was another pistol, a Valtro Beretta that used the same if not almost identical system.

I think, with enough work, one may be able to get a micro brocock gun to do semi-auto fire. Someone who knows how to work on guns should try it.

I think, that the problem is, that only a official gunsmith is allowed to modify a gun to a LEP gun.

Maybe it is possible to made a LEP gun to a semi automatic gun, but, in my opinion, in germany the most people who buy LEP weapons, buy them only to have an original weapon (collecting, look-a-like, handling ect.) For them it dosn´t matter how the gun shoots.

So there´s not a big lobby of LEP shooters in germany. Maybe that is the reason why no gunsmith is trying to develop a semi automatic LEP pistol.

  • Hejsan,
semi automatic rifles using the Brocock cartidge are possible!
I already posted this link a long time ago, back then the videos and pictures worked. The only problem is that there are not enough customers!

  • I remember reading about that. It's a shame only one still remains, and that it was never sent into production.

Most probably, I would have not been able to afford one anyways...

LEP pistols would be much more interesting if they cycled. Deek is right, seems a lot of people just like them for their looks, and not their shooting ability.
