Bow to Crossbow - Bogen in eine Armbrust „um- / verwandeln“ !

In einem anderen Thread hatte ich spaßeshalber geschrieben, dass wenn man seinen Bogen „nicht mehr so gerne mag“, man diesen doch einfach in eine Armbrust „umbauen“ könne

Wie das ?
-> bspw. mit einer Konstruktion, die sonst eigentlich ein (selbstgebautes) Draw-Board wäre ... oder dem zumindest ähnelt.

Aber hey, wozu die „Mühe“, denn so etwas gibt es schon längst ... ungefähr seit 8-10 Jahren sogar schon !

Das Ganze nennt sich Draw-Loc / Lock-a-draw / Draw-Holder / Full-Draw-Tensioning-System / Bow-Rest :

Primär wohl für ältere, schwächere und / oder körperlich behinderte Menschen ... aber nutzen kann so etwas im Grunde natürlich JEDER !

A few weeks ago I received a call from a good friend asking if I could mount a draw locking mechanism on his fathers’ bow. I jumped at the opportunity because I had not seen one since the late nineties and was excited to see how far they had come. My buddy arrived with the Hickory Creek Draw-Loc and his fathers’ Parker bow and we got to work.

The Draw-Loc is an ingenious spin on other draw locking mechanisms. Draw-Loc aids in shooting a compound bow without having to actually hold back all that weight! The package features 5” of draw length adjustment. The unit adds a mere 24 ounces to your bow which once mounted, we barely noticed. The release mechanism exhibits a pistol grip which at first shot feels oddly comfortable. I’ve been shooting a compound with a release my whole life and was pleasantly surprised by how natural the pistol grip position felt. The trigger mechanism utilizes two safety to prevent dry firing or an accidental shot. The Draw-Loc once installed also breaks down extremely fast for storage and ease of transportation. It also comes with a whisker biscuit rest which also adds to the versatility of the package. Additional arrow rests can be used and Hickory Creek Archery is currently working on adding to that list. Lastly a foot loop so the bow may be brought to full draw just as you would a crossbow. All parts are constructed of high quality materials, the machining and the production look to be top notch.

The installation process is the one drawback to this entire system. Don’t get me wrong, once installed correctly this is a fantastic shooting aid for anyone unable to shoot frequently or just someone who wants the ease of a draw lock. I strongly recommend that anyone who doesn’t know how to paper tune a bow or doesn’t know what the center-shot is on your bow, take the Draw-Loc to an archery pro shop for installation. If the Draw-Loc isn’t installed correctly your cams or idle wheel can receive slant pressure and your bow will not shoot straight. Once we had the Draw Loc mounted it performed flawlessly. The safety is effective and easy to use and it is amazing how easy it is to draw a compound bow like a crossbow using two hands. Once paper tuned the bow shot accurately and easily with no noticeable excess noise from the addition of the Draw-Loc. I will definitely be purchasing a Draw-Loc for my father whose shoulder is going out but he’s just not ready to go to a crossbow yet.

Etwas vergleichbares gab es anscheinend sogar für Paintball und sogar mit 22er Munition, etc. - scheint aber mittlerweile nicht mehr auf dem Markt zu sein ?!

Preislich liegt das „Gedöns“ hier dann aber „nur“ bei um 200,— $

Es ist ja auch eher für Jäger gedacht, die kein „MG-Magazin“ benötigen ...

Für körperlich verletzte und behinderte Schützen sicherlich eine wirklich gute Alternative zum Crossbow oder zumindest gute Hilfe beim bisher verwendeten Bogen ... auch als „Spielerei“ für den „normalen“ Schützen ist das doch ein ‚nettes Ding‘ !

Sorry, hatte ich übersehen ...

Allerdings wurden (und werden) Bögen & AB‘s doch genau DAZU seit Jahrtausenden (bzw. AB’s seit Jahrhunderten) hergestellt und eingesetzt !

Dafür das es das System doch schon recht lange gibt / ca. 10+ Jahre ... ist das Ganze äusserst unbekannt !

Bisher bekannt war mir zumindest lediglich eine Art Sehnenstopper für Bögen aus der Vergangenheit (der ungefähr in diese Richtung geht, allerdings eben eine ganz andere Bestimmung hat).

Hier zeige ich wieder einmal eine Besonderheit an früher Bogentechnik. Nachgebaut habe ich diesen Bogen nach einer Fotografie, die um 1900 gemacht wurde. Solche Bogen sind auch im Finnischen Nationalmuseum in Reykjavik zu bestaunen. Sie wurden von Subarktischen Stämmen wie den Athabasca, Hong-Kutchin (lt. O.T.Mason) und Tanaina. Dort hatten die Menschen hauptsächlich Birken- und Weidenholz zum Bogenbau zur Verfügung. Sie verstärkten die Schusskraft ihrer Bogen, indem sie ein Holz anbrachten, das die Sehne im Moment des Abschusses plötzlich zum Stehen brachte. Auch in der Grayson-Sammlung in Missouri gibt es einen solchen Bogen aus dem nördlichen Kanada. Mein Experiment beweist immerhin, dass die Behauptung in Grayson´s Buch, das Holz sei da angebracht, um die Hand des Bogenschützen vor dem Schlagen der Sehne zu schützen, falsch ist.

Wie und ob dadurch der Pfeil allerdings, wie oben beschrieben wird, tatsächlich sogar noch beschleunigt wird, ist mir nicht so ganz erklärlich bzw. finde ich zweifelhaft ...
